The Aperture Academy - Student Comments about Classes & Workshops

The Student Experience

Check out these unsolicited and really great comments from our students, many of whom have experienced both classroom and workshop classes.

:: Lisa Chadwick ::
What a wonderful weekend this was in so many ways! I have years of photography experience and still came away from this workshop with new skills and feel it was well worth every penny! I look forward to the next learning adventure with these awesome teachers! Thank you for all the hands on instruction and for pushing my art over the edge and into the next phase!

:: Larry Harris ::
"As of today, I get to call myself a published photographer. One of my pictures was featured on the CBS Website and shown on several news stations today. I even had people contacting me to buy the picture. I would have never been able to accomplish this without your workshops. Thanks!"

:: Mary Lynn Crowe ::
"I had a WONDERFUL time in this workshop--the group was great! Learning to use filters was really a bonus and I've become re-excited about getting back into photography - the tips I learned were invaluable for my trip to Yellowstone and the Great Tetons a few days after this workshop. Hope I can do another workshop someday. I'm still thinking about all the fun - thanks Stephen and Brian!"

:: Ellie Stone ::
"What a fantastic experience. I can't stop talking about it and my friends and family can't stop talking about the pictures I took. I feel like my photography skill has gone to the next level, thanks to both Stephen & Brian. Can't wait until the next workshop!"

:: Alan Block ::
"Thank you for a first-class workshop and a very enjoyable day. I've attended a number of workshops over the past several years and this was definitely the most instructive and well organized. Equally impressive was the way you handled delivering a great workshop in considerably less than optimal--really dismal--weather conditions."

:: Brad Hoelting ::
"Stephen and Brian, the location was awesome! I learned so much from you and the other students as well. Everyone there was so generous in sharing their knowledge. I definitely recomend your workshops to anyone that wants to improve their skills and portfolio...even if you have to travel all the way from Texas. Y'ALL really know how to git 'er done!!"

:: Charlie ::
"What a fun group to experience and share the photography field trip with. By the looks of things everyone was very focused on their focus. Also, the running commentary by Stephen and Brian produced many good tips and advice that the group could put in to practice immediately. Great job! Lots of fun. Many mahalo's."

:: Rao ::
"Thanks for putting together a great photography outing. Learned a lot but more importantly enjoyed it greatly. With "fireworks" and the "moon" on tap - you guys take care of everything! Looking forward to other such lessons. Thanks again."

:: David Mackiewicz ::
"I not only learned from you and Brian, but from the students that were set up next to me. I have always shot in the automode and was a bit intimidated by the high caliber of people that were in the workshop. I soon discovered that it wasn't an issue and the instruction was geared to my level."

:: Shon Peterson ::
"Wow, thank you so much for everything. You guys go above and beyond in planning your workshops!! I returned to Wyoming with a vast amount of valuable photography tips, great photos and most of all lasting memories/friendships. I hope to be a returning client if the class is not "FULL"!!"

:: Dennis Funderburk ::
"Thanks for a wonderful workshop. I traveled from North Carolina and the workshop was definitely worth the trip! I learned from fellow students as well. I never shot in Bulb mode until this workshop and I am now comfortable with long exposures. I get the most compliments on a photo using a ND graduated filter (recommended by Stephen) at night on the Golden Gate Bridge to get a longer exposure. Also, I get alot of compliments on a wonderful shot of Rodeo Beach in black and white. Brian helped me to get an amazing composition and Stephen recommended a slow shutter speed to get a smooth glassy effect from the waves as they came in and receded. And I was able to get a beautiful picture of the Golden Gate Bridge from Marin Headlands before my plane left. I plan to attend your future workshops. Congratulations on your gallery! Best Regards, Dennis"
