The Basics of Using the RAW Converter

The Basics of Using the RAW Converter

Online Web Series

The Aperture Academy has designed a collection of post processing sessions for all of our students who are stuck at home and would like to take advantage of this time to expand their knowledge in post processing, or perhaps dive deeper into the more technical side of photography.

Our team understands the uncertainty all of our students are feeling right now, so we wanted to help by designing live tutorials you can access from the comfort of your home at targeted times to be sensitive to those students who may have small children at home, or who are continuing to work from home. By joining us for one of our Web Series tutorials, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions in real-time, interact with our instructor, and perhaps see an old friend from one of your workshops! That's right, during your tutorial you will have the option to be visible to the entire class, or lounge in privacy on the couch! We understand that balancing your time may be a challenge during this time, so please contact us at https://www.apertureacademy.com/ if we can design a package for your specific needs.

We'll be adding more tutorials as quickly as we can, so be sure to check back with us for updated class listings!

Photoshop: The Basics of Using the RAW Converter

This live interactive tutorial will guide you step-by-step through the process of taking your RAW file, and using RAW Converter, maximize your results before bringing it into Photoshop. We can show you how!

Presented by Aperture Academy Instructor Brian Rueb.

What You'll Need

We want your experience to be as rewarding as possible during your tutorial, so there's a few things you'll need before you start your online education with us!

The first thing you'll need is to find 2 or 3 of your favorite RAW images you have tucked away on your computer! It's time to make them POP. Whether we're using Photoshop or Lightroom, we'll be processing your RAW files, so it's very important to have those available as the class begins. We do not recommend using an image in JPEG format! You will not be able to achieve desired results with a JPEG file.

The next thing on your to-do list is to make sure you have the most current version of Photoshop or Lightroom installed on your computer. We want to maximize our time together, so we ask that you check for any updates to your software prior to class. When class starts, we want to make sure everyone is ready to go! Our instructors are highly versed in all things post processing, but if Lightroom is your preferred software, we highly recommend Lightroom Classic vs Lightroom CC. While named similarly, Lightroom Classic offers more helpful information as you learn. Feel free to email us with more questions!

Upon clicking the link to enter your classroom that will be emailed to you, you will be live online with your instructor as well as several other students. We ask that during the course of the class you hold your questions until your instructor is ready for questions. We will have a lot of ground to cover and we want to make sure every student has the best possible experience. We understand It's common to have questions, so we ask that you type your questions into the chat portion of the window and your instructor can respond when they can. If at the end of the hour your question has not been answered, the instructor will stay online to make sure that it does! Please try and keep your questions related to the topic. We're happy to design a one-on-one to fit your needs as well.

We're very excited to be offering our new Web Series to our students. This is our way of continuing to provide you with quality photography instruction that Aperture Academy students have come to expect.

See you in class!
